Suzanne Rossi’s teaching career in physical education spans 25 years after graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a degree in Kinesiology. She also received her Master’s in Special Education and expanded her teaching expertise while working with students in adaptive physical education programs. She has been involved in designing and implementing programs in other local schools which do not have a physical educator. Over the years she have presented at conferences, taught at several local schools as a special teacher, and currently enjoys teaching lower school sports classes. She also enjoys coaching Crane’s fifth grade co-ed soccer team, running the track and field meet, and coaching volleyball.
The Lower School Curriculum is based on the California Standards for Physical Education. The primary grades focus on the following general concepts
- Physical Fitness
- Personal Values and Experience
- Movement Skills, Rhythm, and Dance
- Sport Skills, Lifetime Activities, and Recreation
- Safety Skills
- Interdisciplenary Activities
Students are offered a multitude of opportunities to learn and continue reinforcing these concepts.
