Boys’ Varsity VolleyballThis spring season was full of challenges; there were many rained out games and practices in the middle of the season. A nasty flu bug hit us hard and for two or three weeks we were down to three players.  Despite these challenges the boys gave it their all.  We referred to them as the “try hards” and they did just that.  One of our best performances came during tournament play, when we had only six players and everyone needed to pull their own weight.  Each player stepped up with great setting, blocks, and serves. We really had our finest showing in our tournament game against Laguna Blanca.  The match went three games with long rallies and great plays.  I truly enjoyed working with this team of “try hards” as they progressed to a team of “we did it.”   --Coach Terri Willis Boys...

Winter Boys Varsity Basketball - Undefeated in League Play - Tournament ChampionsOur boys' Varsity Basketball Team began their quest of excellence by becoming more aware of their own capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses.  Coach Prieto continually recited the mantra of effort, effort, effort.  You get what you put into it he would say.  This team was loaded with talent and they just needed to learn to work together.  By mid-season they did just that. The championship game was at Bishop Diego against Marymount and it was a beautiful sight.  As a team they played some amazing basketball.  Coach Prieto says to work on the basics and know it well and the showy moves will come.  The boys played solid basketball and we even got to preview some showy plays.  It was a flawless season, undefeated in league play and tournament champions!...

Girls Varsity VolleyballWith a team of girls with hearts as big as lions, and enough determination to fill the stadium, this season was full of promise.  And this desire and heart to succeed pulled our Girls Varsity Volleyball team into a strong finish.  As we entered the tournament competition, we had finished third in league.  Our first round of tournament play brought us up against Laguna in their home gym.  We came out on fire with consistent play and solid teamwork.  Our offense was quickly becoming strong with smooth transitions from offense to defense and wicked serves.  We won this round and were moving on to play SBMS in the semifinals.  After losing to SBMS in league play, the girls were ready and waiting to bring it on.  We fired in many ace serves.  We won the first game and in the second game SBMS bounced back with some super...

5th Grade Girls Volleyball: The Fifth Grade volleyball team had a tremendously successful season. With a total of 12 teams in their league this season, the girls worked hard to build their skills in each game and practice. Their effort paid off when they were awarded a spot in the Gold Division volleyball tournament. The tournament, played round robin style, put each of the five teams up against one another, with the winner being the team with the best record at the end of the day. Crane worked together to win their first three games. Their final game put them up against Marymount, a team who had also won their three previous games. The girls demonstrated true sportsmanship in their final game, supporting one another through good and bad hits and maintaining positive attitudes, as the score remained close for the entire game. Crane was able to pull ahead and win the championship!...
